When the phone starts to "freeze", but still responds to commands, it's better to just turn it off in the usual way, that is, by long pressing the power button - select "Turn off". After restarting everything should be back to normal.

  1. When it works but does not respond to commands

This situation can happen to anyone - the smartphone is working, the screen may even be on, but it has completely stopped responding to commands. If the situation does not improve within a couple of minutes - this may mean that Android is "frozen". What then?

The easiest way is to remove the battery from the device. You just need to open the battery cover and, perhaps, with a vigorous movement, remove the battery from the phone. Wait a minute and put it back in.

If the smartphone does not work properly when turned on, see the next paragraph.

When an Android smartphone "freezes" even after turning it on again, the matter is much more serious. There is a good chance that the problem is related to one of the recently installed applications. It should be removed and see if it improves the situation. If not, more serious measures must be taken.

A common and always effective solution is to restore the factory settings. To do this, enter the menu Settings -> Recovery and reset (it happens that the menu items are different and are in a different submenu) -> Reset settings. If you select the last option, the phone will be completely cleared of data and restored to the state in which it was purchased. In addition, you can still clear the memory card. It is possible that such an option will be obtained immediately after selecting Restore Factory Settings. If not, you need to go to Settings -> SD card and phone storage -> disable memory card -> Format memory card. If there are any important data or photos on it, remember that they must be copied to another medium!

  1. When it doesn't turn on

When the phone does not turn on, do not be too scared. The developers left another loophole to bring it back to life. To do this, you need to refer to the manufacturer's knowledge of the smartphone model.

This loophole is the so-called recovery mode, which can be activated in some phone models by simultaneously pressing and holding the corresponding buttons. You need to find the right combination for your phone model. For example, in the Samsung Galaxy S (i9000), you need to press and hold three buttons at the same time: volume up, power on and the Home button below the screen. Then select the desired option to restore factory settings or clear the device's memory. In Samsung, this will be the "wipe data/factory reset" position, but, for example, in the case of HTC, this may be the "Clear storage" option.

After performing these steps, the smartphone will reboot itself, or it will be necessary to call this function from the menu (reboot).

  1. When none of the above work

If none of the above points work, it means that the problem may be more serious. In this case, we do not recommend further bringing the smartphone back to life on its own. It will be much safer to just give it to a specialized service center. A list of these can usually be found on the manufacturer's website.


Even the most expensive smartphone is not immune from breakdowns. During operation, the device may fall to the floor, suffer from exposure to water, and receive other mechanical damage.

As a result, individual controls may fail.

Practice shows that one of the most vulnerable places on a Samsung smartphone is the power button (on / off).

If the main the phone button is broken or stopped responding to pressing, only the master will help to correct the situation. However, for some time you can use your smartphone with a broken power button.

Factory reset is a last resort. The consequences of such an operation are fundamentally different from the consequences of a normal reboot. After a factory reset, the phone will return to the state it was in when it was made. Accordingly, all your data - everything in general, including contacts, photos, applications, messages, and so on - will be deleted in the process. Accordingly, it makes sense to use a rollback to the factory settings only in extreme cases.

Charge the battery and make a backup of all important data. Starting a factory reset, remember - there is no going back! Accordingly, care should be taken in advance that nothing is lost without a trace, especially something important or valuable. After the rollback, alas, you will not be able to access all this again. It is necessary to charge the battery so that it does not discharge in the process - otherwise it will only get worse.

Select "Factory data reset" in the settings. There are several ways to reset your Galaxy Ace to factory settings. The first one is probably the easiest - go to your phone settings (gear icon), then "User and backup" or "Backup and reset", then "Rollback to factory settings" ("Factory data reset"). A notification will appear asking you to confirm the action.

Alternatively, enter the code *2767*3855#. Dial it the same way you would dial a phone number. This sequence will reset the phone to factory settings, unless later, after typing everything, you remember to click on "Call".

There is also a third way: press the home key, the volume up button and the power button at the same time. However, this trick will work. only with the phone turned off. Release the buttons when the Samsung logo appears. This option is good in cases where your phone cannot turn on normally.

  • You still have to charge the battery to the maximum.
  • From the recovery menu, select "Wipe data/factory reset". Now you can put your phone aside for a while until a special menu with various system options loads. Use the volume buttons to select the factory reset option, then confirm your selection by pressing the phone's power button or the home button. In the next window that appears, select "Yes" to confirm the action.

  • Wait for the factory reset to complete. Now the phone will start resetting the data without disturbing you anymore - you just need to wait for the process to finish. By the way, this can take a few minutes, so please be patient. When the rollback is complete, select the "Reboot system now" option from the menu, or simply reboot by pressing the power button on the phone.

    • After a successful factory reset, the phone will work as it did when it was just bought - there will be only basic applications, default wallpapers and an empty contact book, not to mention other settings.
  • No complex technique is immune from failures, even the most modern ones. Even the powerful flagship smartphone Samsung Galaxy S7 can freeze, however, to the credit of its creators, it must be said that this usually happens not through their fault, but through the fault of one of the installed and running applications. Be that as it may, if the Galaxy S7 freezes, it stops responding to commands and touches on the screen. So what to do in this case?

    A reboot should fix all issues. True, there is one caveat here - a tightly hung smartphone may not respond to buttons in any way. In this case, one of the methods recommended by Samsung technical support will most likely help us.

    • The first way is to hold down the power button for ten to twenty seconds, and hold it down. Most likely, the smartphone will simply silently reboot without creating any additional dialog boxes.
    • The second way is to open the back cover of the smartphone and remove the battery from it. As soon as the battery is disconnected, the smartphone will turn off, and we will only have to return it to its place and turn on the device. Alas, this method will not work for the Galaxy S7, since it is equipped with a non-removable battery :)
    • The third way is to simultaneously hold down the power button and the volume down button, and hold them in this position for seven seconds. The result will be the same - the smartphone will start to reboot.

    So, here we figured out what to do if the Galaxy S7 is frozen. But we have eliminated only the cause, not the effect, and if the problem recurs more or less regularly, it is worth considering what caused it. First of all, it is worth checking the memory of the smartphone for a subject. If not, think about what dubious applications you installed recently, and after what actions did the Galaxy S7 start to freeze? If regular freezes began after you installed some fresh game, it may be the case.

    Moreover, the application can be completely normal and officially downloaded from Google Play - this may not prevent it from conflicting with some other processes occurring in the silicon memory of your faithful smartphone. Try uninstalling the suspicious app, restart your Galaxy S7 and observe its behavior. Well, if nothing really helps, you can try the factory ones, having previously saved all the valuable information.
