What happens when you "Remove" or "Ignore" an add-on?
Avast Browser Cleanup allows you to remove known toolbars. Remove means here to uninstall and completely remove the toolbar and all its components from your computer. This action cannot be undone.
If you want to keep the add-on and you want Avast Browser Cleanup to stop offering to remove it, you can select Ignore in the standalone version. Ignore means that the add-on will be disregarded and kept in the browser, no matter what its rating is. If you want to stop ignoring the add-on, just click Stop Ignoring and the Remove option will appear again.

What can I do if an add-on gets automatically restored after removing it?
In some cases, an add-on can be restored even after you have removed it. The reason for this might be that the add-on is protected by a so-called toolbar protector. A toolbar protector typically prevents Avast Browser Cleanup from reliably detecting and removing add-ons, resetting a search provider, or setting a homepage. In some cases the add-on can be removed but will be automatically restored later (e.g. at next logon). Avast Browser Cleanup tries to detect and remove toolbar protectors at start up. However, some of these protectors are hard to identify and remove. Please report such cases through our support channels and provide the .
Why do seemingly safe add-ons like Angry Birds and eBay have a bad reputation?
Unfortunately malware creators sometimes try to get access to your information by taking on a legitimate company or product name. This might lead to the strange situation that Avast Browser Cleanup rejects a seemingly safe add-on, because it is actually just a fake add-on posing as a legitimate one.
Why is my search and homepage reset when poorly rated add-ons are removed?
If a browser is threatened by a poorly rated add-on, its search and homepage are most likely hijacked as well in one form or another. This means Avast Browser Cleanup needs to reset these pages unless the search provider or homepage are on a whitelist. Avast Browser Cleanup is unable to decide if a homepage is an intended one or if it is hijacked by the poorly rated toolbar.
Therefore Avast Browser Cleanup offers a list of approved and Avast-tested new search providers combined with homepages to choose from during the removal process. After the selection is made, the new search provider and homepage will be set. The current list of offered search providers is limited and depends on the customers location and country. If your preferred search provider or homepage is not on that offer list, you can easily once the browser is clean.
Why does Avast Browser Cleanup report and remove Google Search Protect as a Toolbar Protector?
If you have Google Toolbar for Internet Explorer installed, it is possible that Avast Browser Cleanup reports "Google Search Protect " on your computer and recommends to remove it. Google Search Protect was most probably installed together with the Google Toolbar for Internet Explorer.
In general, Avast Browser Cleanup reports and recommends to remove all third party software which prevents Avast Browser Cleanup from reliably detecting and removing browser add-ons or search providers. We call such software a Toolbar Protector. It does not matter if this software is installed by the installer of a poorly rated add-on or by the installer of a highly rated add-on. The result is the same: All add-ons are more or less sealed into the browser and can no longer be removed easily by the user or by Avast Browser Cleanup. Additionally, some Toolbar Protectors re-install their associated add-on even if the user manages to remove it.
Unfortunately, Google Search Protectbehaves exactly like a Toolbar Protector: it prevents Avast Browser Cleanup from removing add-ons and search providers. Therefore it is reported and removed the same way.
What is the difference between an add-on name and extension ID?
An add-on typically is identified by name and/or extension ID . The name is not necessarily unique and might change over time. Therefore the extension ID is used to clearly identify an add-on. The extension ID is unique to a browser add-on, however an extension ID might be used for the same add-on in different browsers. The extension ID can be found in the created by Avast Browser Cleanup. The lines with the extension ID can be easily identified. The ID is the string between ID and Name .
How can I manually set my Internet browser to my preferred search provider and homepage after using Avast Browser Cleanup?
Search Provider :
- Click Settings Manage add-ons .
- Next select Search Provider on the left. The list of installed search providers appears.
- Select a search provider, click Set as Default at the bottom, and Close .
Homepage :
- Click Settings (the gear icon in the upper right corner) and then select Internet Options .
- In the General tab and under Home page, type a new homepage - e.g. www.google.com - and click OK .

Homepage (for version 30.x and higher) :

To disable Avast Browser Cleanup from frequently checking for add-ons, go to Avast Browser Cleanup settings:

Can I prevent Avast Browser Cleanup from reporting a specific add-on as poorly rated?
If you want to keep an add-on, you can tell Avast Browser Cleanup to ignore it.
- Select the appropriate tab for your browser on the left, e.g. Mozilla Firefox .
- Click the (i) after the name of the add-on. Additional information appears below.
- Click Ignore and Avast Browser Cleanup will not display warnings for this add-on in the future.
In Avast Antivirus you cannot ignore a specific add-on. To prevent Smart Scan from scannig Bad browser add-ons :
- Open the Avast Anitivirus user interface , go to Settings and ensure the General tab is selected.
- Scroll down to the Smart Scan section and click the downward-facing arrow on the right to expand the related options.
- Click the ON slider next to the Bad browser add-ons option so that it changes to OFF .
- Click OK .

Does the standalone version of Avast Browser Cleanup work differently from the one in Avast Antivirus?
While the functionality is essentially the same for the standalone version of Avast Browser Cleanup, the user interface is slightly different from the Bad browser add-ons feature of Smart Scan in Avast Antivirus. The standalone tool allows you to easily filter add-ons according to which browser they are installed in by selecting browser-specific tags along the side, , or on the home screen you can see an overview of all add-ons in all browsers. Всем привет ребята Поговорим сегодня о такой программе как Avast SafeZone Browser, я расскажу что это такое и вы сможете понять нужно вам это или нет. Значит Avast SafeZone Browser это браузер, и как вы уже догадались, он идет от компании Avast.
Такой браузер нужен для того, чтобы в нем проводить всякие важные дела, ну то есть какие-то банковские дела, ну еще что-то, просто сам не знаю что… Также в браузере есть какая-то там защита от опасного типа содержимого, есть блокировка рекламы даже, также в браузере есть фильтрация страниц, где блокируются страницы с плохой репутацией. Ну кароч защищенный браузер типа!
В общем грубо говоря я надеюсь что примерно понятно что такое Avast SafeZone Browser. Ну что ребята, теперь давайте посмотрим что же на самом деле этот браузер из себя представляет. И как я это буду делать? А вот как, я скачаю сейчас антивирус Аваст и установлю его на тестовый комп, а вместе с ним то ведь установится и браузер Avast SafeZone Browser, вот мы и посмотрим, какой он в деле, что это за зверюга так бы сказать
Значит установил я Аваст антивирус, вот смотрите какой он привлекательный так бы сказать внешне:
Внизу даже какой-то подарочек есть, ну ничего себе подумал я, короче нажал на Распаковать, а там просто скидка на платную версию Аваста, ну ничего себе подумал я…
Ладно ребята, немного не о том. Короче установил Аваст и вот на рабочем столе появился вот такой вот ярлык браузера Avast SafeZone Browser:
Ярлыки я сам вручную так расставил, ну чтобы было удобно видно
Запустил я значит этот защищенный браузер, вот как он выглядит:
Значит какой минус я тут сразу вижу? Это то, что браузер сделан на основе Хрома, а это значит что он спокойно может тормозить ваш комп. Все таки сам по себе Гугл Хром браузер неплохой, но иногда сайты как-то так его грузят не по детски, вот в Мозилле такого я не видел.. Ну короче это просто вам на заметку, браузер Avast SafeZone Browser такой что может нагрузить ваш проц
Вот вкладка Быстрый доступ, это так бы сказать стартовая вкладка:
Вверху браузера, в левом углу есть такая кнопка как Avast SafeZone, вот если эту кнопку нажать, то появится вот такое меню:

То вы попадете на страницу настроек, вот она:
Да, видно тут плохо, но поверьте, что ничего особенного тут нет. Есть несколько фирменных функций от антивируса Аваст, но в целом этот браузер меня лично НЕ впечатлил. Я могу ошибаться, может немного невнимательный, но в настройках я ничего такого супер пупер не нашел. Единственное что нашел такую опцию по поводу защищенного содержимого:
И еще такую нашел это защита от фишинга (тут уже Яндекс Браузер будет точно получше):
А второй пункт по поводу предоставления данных, это я так, ну просто на всякий случай вам показал, чтобы вы почитали что там написано.. Ничего криминального тут нет! Просто интересно написано, что они могут делиться анонимной инфой со сторонними организациями… Хм, Хм…
Так что вот такие пироги ребята. Ну да есть еще блокировщик рекламы в этом браузере, все верно. Но знаете что я думаю? Я думаю что если постараться, то можно обычный браузер Гугл Хром нафаршировать всякими расширениями по безопасности, против фишинга, против рекламы, против рекламных жучков (дополнение Ghostery). Как я уже писал, в плане борьбы с фишингом сейчас трудится Яндекс Браузер со своей технологией Protect и мне кажется что весьма успешно..
Ну что еще сказать? Значит Avast SafeZone Browser работает под такими процессами как SZBrowser.exe, вот они в диспетчере задач:
Процессов несколько и это неудивительно, браузер ведь сделан на основе Хрома. Есть еще процесс SZBrowser_crashreporter.exe, это как я понимаю для отправки отчета об ошибке, ну если вдруг возникнет ошибка, кароч что-то типа такого. Как видите каждый процесс SZBrowser.exe немножко, но кушает оперативу и все вместе они могут кушать ну так бы сказать не так уж и мало… При том что сейчас в браузере не запущено не одной вкладки, я его просто запустил и все…
Запускается браузер вот из этой папки:
C:\Program Files\AVAST Software\SZBrowser\1.51.2220.62
Ну что вам еще показать? Честно говоря даже не знаю, вроде все показал. Ну так что ребята, теперь вы можете уже понять, нужна вам эта программа или нет? Надеюсь что на этот вопрос вы уже можете ответить
Осталось только показать вам как удалить Avast SafeZone Browser с компьютера полностью. Значит что тут нужно делать? А делать нужно вот что, зажмите кнопки Win + R, появится окошко Выполнить, туда вы пишите такую команду и нажимаете ОК:
Откроется окно установленных программ, вам тут нужно найти такое как Avast Free Antivirus (у вас может быть и другая версия Аваста), потом нажать правой кнопкой и там выбрать Изменить:
Потом появится авастовское окно, тут кстати будет написано что можно активировать бесплатную подписку на год. Ну не знаю, у вас может и не будет такого предложения. Но мне интересно было и я активировал.. И все.. Короче окошко закрылось.. И все.. Я даже не ожидал, но я посмотрел в самом антивирусе и вот пожалуйста:
Прикол так прикол! Ну все понятно, это работает, просто не думал что все так просто В общем ладно ребята, возвращаемся к нашей теме разговора так бы сказать, нажали в общем по Avast Free Antivirus правой кнопкой, потом выбрали Изменить, потом появится окошко, вы там нажимаете на Модифицировать:
Это окошко такое у меня потому что я уже бесплатно активировал Аваст на год! А если вы его не активировали, то у вас будет вот такое окошко, в нем нужно нажать на Изменить (а вот тут кстати и видно предложение бесплатной активации Аваста на год):
Ну короче вы поняли я думаю. В общем потом у вас будет окно с галочками, тут нужно снять галочку с Браузер SafeZone и нажать на Изменить:
После этого повисит немного такое окно:
А потом в этом окне, внизу будет надпись, что мол нужно перезагрузить комп:
Ребята, скажу вам сразу, что перезагрузку эту лучше не откладывать а сделать сразу! В общем я сделал перезагрузку, смотрю на рабочий стол, а там уже нет ярлыка Avast SafeZone Browser, то есть все получилось, мы этот браузер таки удалили, это отличняк
